Minecraft?
Who is playing Minecraft out there? If you have no clue what Minecraft is, it’s pretty much an open world where you dig for things, fight monsters and most importantly, build things. Here are some videos that might help you kinda understand what Minecraft is about.
For those of you who do play Minecraft, what do you spend your time doing in game? I’m currently on this weird thing of removing all the lava from the bottom layers of the level near my house. And by house, I mean tiny stone thing that has a couple storage chests and workbench and furnace.
Here’s a pic of what I got going right now.
So that’s the big hole I dug. On the left side of the screenshot, you can see my tiny square stone home.

I bought it but haven't actually played with it much yet. Mostly cause all I have is a netbook and it just barely runs well enough to be playable. =P
I play on a multi-player server with a bunch of my old work-mates and we band together to create massive structures, long roads, and expansive underwater and underground complexes.
The limit of your group project really does become the limit of your imagination.
Can't wait for varied climates for multi-player though!
What a coincidence! I just finished up working on this pyramid:

I got some help from friends.
Nice! You have a cool lava thingie going on in the background too.
Ah, man I didn't even see the lava thing. Is this pyramid triforce inspired?
i build big houses
and underwater bases and towers with lots of glass and nice views. thats after i get my first diamond pick and shovel to speed up the process.
then i look for more diamond and build bigger houses.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY Well I just made a dynamite cannon and dug a huge crevasse into the bedrock with dynamite.
And now we have a huge underground tree farm going on… it's totally not pot officer, they're trees!
My friends and I just build a lot of silly shit. Towers, castles, canons, an ewok village, an aircraft carrier, 8-bit characters, roads, tunnels, walls, buildings, giant penises, an AT-AT, a coliseum, a BP oil spill, underwater junk, and lots more!
It doesn't do it too much justice, but here's a "google map" of what we've done so far: http://www.teejaygreen.com/minecraft/
Cool stuff! Gotta love that Link sprite =)
I didn't even know you could make a google map type thing with Minecraft.
I spend all my time making giant glass penises with lava flowing out the tip.
I got into Minecraft through the community of this game called Dwarf Fortress.
Dwarf Fortress is kind of a roguelike The Sims/RTS hybrid thing with ASCII graphics. You have this group of dwarves and have them dig underground lairs to dwell in, though you can also make them build above ground. I see so much of the building aspects of DF in Minecraft that it was easy for me to get into it.
I've bought the full version. In it, I've essentially been doing the same things I do in Dwarf Fortress– make underground dungeon-like places, with nasty traps like a moat filled with magma.
Currently I'm building a sculpture of a giant fist, a testament to the might of the dwarves who would inhabit my fortress if they actually existed in Minecraft. I may modify it later to make a "horns" gesture.
I built a house out of stone (not cobblestone), a giant tower out of stone, and underground farm, a portal to hell, and a mine to the bottom of the world
My tower is my favorite

Nice and simple but cool looking tower. I should probably upgrade my Minecraft living situation soon.

Minecraft is possibly the best game. Ever. For some reason I have a natural attraction to mining games, and this is the absolute pinnacle. I'm in the middle of making a nice beachside house, with a huge beacon tower with lava running down it.
I'm running a server for me and some friends, we've got some pretty cool stuff so far. Just started a marina last night, and a house that was under a lavafall. I can't wait til buckets and minecarts work correctly on the alpha version of the server.
I spend all my time exploring the cavern systems on my map, lighting them as I go, walling up the bits that are uninteresting, gradually building wooden walkways that tour the area. Also, endeavoring to put waterfalls and lavafalls together whenever possible. Also, finding diamond to mine out.
I'm just in it for the riches.
EPIC! Every comic writer I know is slowly starting to play minecraft, which I love lol.
Oh I build castles and houses(n a fishing cabin and a pub XD) and fail attempts on mob traps to get records
mines all the way down and explore caves It's awesome, and I really want the full version…
Ah, man. I love the layering effect you did there. I just completed an 36 block high inverted pyramid. That was fun, but time consuming. Now I'm wasting time on underwater tunnels, until the new update comes out.
I tend to build my base in the form of a lookout tower at the top of the tallest mountain in sight. But then I end up being killed by a creeper or by falling off something and I respawn on the other side of the world, unable to find my lookout tower, so I have to start over and build a new one. Haven't actually gotten around to any serious mining yet.
do you play online? if so what room
Whenever I play Minecraft I don't usually build things in alpha. I prefer digging a little house in the side of a mountain, then starting my work with mines and stuff. I go looking for caves to get lost in, or I explore parts of my islands. I think most of my time will be spent in The Nether now that it's out.
Okay, what is this game and where do I get it? I feel completely out of the loop. Do you download it online?
http://www.minecraft.net will have some answers.
Are you playing on a free copy or would I need to download and pay for something to play on the LHT server?
We are running the classic version, so that means you can play for free from the website! We'll be posting a link to our server tonight.
I see a lot of nifty things that other people built, and it's pretty fun times. I myself play on single player or on a friend's sever when she has it up. Single player I'm just digging a gigantic hole in the ground, since there's a huge underground tunnel system underneath my house, filled with lots of shinies and painful lava. In multiplayer (I will admit I hacked many supplies like tnt), me and a couple of friends are working together of building a gigantic castle structure. I am a perfectionist and try to keep things symmetrical as much as possible, but when buildings are 30 squares tall, I just…..yeah. Sometimes it's just too much. On the plus side, I did manage to keep my Keep perfectly circular. Minecraft is fun times, especially when one can spawn fire and burn annoying livestock.
And i thought my 16-bit full adder was cool
great film soundtrack…
