India

Heylo,

Remember when I took that vacation a couple weeks back?  I went to India for a friend’s wedding!

I posted my photos from the trip, if you’re interested.  Here’s a special one for you guys, a souvenir tiny owl that I bought:

With an even TINIER OWL INSIDE.  WHAT.

Tiny Owls may be the happiest thing I've seen on the internet in the past six months.

    Nice find!

  2. Aero Kitty says:

You mean the owl is PREGNANT?!

  3. London says:

    you win.

    YEAH! Tiny owls 4 EVER!

If that isn't AWESOME, than nothing is.

India pictures were AMAZING! I especially love the parts about the guys always trying to sell you things. And the monkeys. Can't forget the monkeys.

A friend of mine got back recently from an archeological trip to Oman (it's like the same thing, right?). He has a video of camels walking in a straight line back home. I thought that was awesome.

my fave pic is the one with the chain in the foreground….and the doggies…a punjabi girl i work with said most of the dogs there are probably rabid and there is no such thing as pet food stores…she laughed when she saw what we do for our pets here.

Wow those are some beautiful pictures. I especially like the one of the chair with a hole in the seat with a brick underneath. Bricks were shat apparently lol. But really, amazing shots, looks like an incredible place!

  9. Wow…that is one tiny owl…

Excellent pictures. I really enjoyed the sense of space created in so many of them (i.e., the Taj Mahal). It's fascinating to see so many colors used so vibrantly in the architecture and in clothing.

Looks like it was a wonderful trip.

    I love the owls.

I also love the etymological woodchuck. Folk etymology has always interested me… did you know that the Mexican city of Cuernavaca has nothing to do with the Spanish words "cuerno" (horn) and "vaca" (cow), but is a Hispanicized pronunciation of the native word "cuaunahuac"? I don't know what that means, but I'm sure you could look it up. Or ask the woodchuck, he seems to be an expert.

(Although if you're gonna get really picky about language, a woodchuck is really a marmot, not a muskrat, but I guess they're both rodents so who cares. At least it's not a flaming squirrel.)

Ah, I thought you were exaggerating when you said there were monkeys everywhere, but you weren't.

    D:

That's ridiculous. Looks like their monkeys are the equivalent to our squirrels. O_o

So, you didn't try to accept the rice from the priest with your left hand, did you? 'Cause that's the sanitary hand. They use it to wipe their butts.

Hope you didn't shake anyone's left hand in India. It's considered an incredible offense if offered. Like throwing a shoe at a President.

Glad you made it home safely. That's a big deal. My congratulations to the bride and condolences to the groom.

    That was a joke.

I sense the beginnings of an InfinityOwl…

Haha, I've been to Sri Lanka, so I have an idea of what it was like. Awesome country, eh? Everyone's always so happy!

  16. Scott Holmes says:

Those owls are really cool. What material are they carved from? Bone, stone?

    • Jez says:

      Bone stone!

      or Stone bone!

by the look of them, some sort of quartz with a more powdery calcium deposit!

  17. Crystal says:

I have an Indian elephant with a tiny elephant inside it, just like your owl. It's made of soapstone. Maybe that's just a thing they do in India? Make little animals with even smaller animals inside.

The composition of the shots were great! Thanks very much for sharing your experience and showing us refreshing aspects of India.
